Riga 2008

During the Third Meeting of Parties to the Aarhus Convention (Riga, 11-13 June 2008), ECO-Accord acting as a Communication Unit of the Eropean ECO-Forum coordinated information and communication activities of the ECO-Forum. n EECCA NGO REGIONAL ASSESSMENT ON CHEMICAL SAFETY
The Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Regional Assessment surveyed 50 NGOs from the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. Complete text in English can be downloaded here

n For the meeting "The Role of Russian NGOs in the Development of NIP to the Stockholm Convention on POPs" held in St. Petersburg, May 22-23, Eco-Accord prepared a power point presentation on NGO involvement to NIP implementation. More>>

n IPEN has started preparing IPEN NGO Regional Assessment: NGO Survey "Promoting a Regional NGO dialogue for future collaboration". The aim of the survey is to prepare a description of the present state of the regional chemical safety situation from IPEN Regional Hubs, including data from a wide range of local NGOs on NGO strategies, needs, and opportunities. Globalization, WTO and NIS: new publication

In the framework of the project “Globalization, the WTO and New Independent States: broadening the dialogue for sustainable development”. Eco-Accord prepared the Russian edition of “Environment and Trade” Handbook. The goal of this project of the Earth Council in cooperation with Eco-Accord Center with support of the Ford Foundation is to increase the awareness of stakeholders on the issues of globalisation, WTO and their impact on environment and sustainable development, as well as to assess the consequences of WTO accession for sustainable development in the countries of the region. In the moment, Eco-Accord develops a publication on the outcomes of this project “Globalisation, the WTO and New Independent States: broadening the dialogue for sustainable development”.
